Default Frequently asked installation questions for the M20 (4 cylinder)

Over the coming weeks, our staff will be posting our customer's model specific installation questions as well as our answers and guidance from our notes. Eventually, this will create a searchable knowlege base that may be of help to people in similar situations.

Feel free to post your situation and what you did to overcome it. We'll chime in if we have something to add or if we know that your solution might not work with another known configuration.

8 years, 3000 plus exhaust installations and we still run into new "challenges"

Default Re: Frequently asked installation questions for the M20 (4 cylinder)

I just installed a Gen 2 system on my 1966 M20E with standard cowling. From the time I removed the cowling till finishing was exactly 3 hours. I have installed one system before on my Cherokee and I am a journeyman mechanic. Despite all that, the engineering for fit on the Gen 2 system is perfect. After removing my old system I assembled the Gen 2 parts inside the cowling just to check for fit. I was amazed at how easily it all fit in there and absolutely no interference with any component. I then removed it all and lubed all the joints and bolts with anti-sieze then reassembled the system. I already know how the system performs, having owned a prior system. For the engineering and fit alone, every airplane should have this exhaust system.

Very happy customer.....
