Talking R22 + Power Flow - Now FAA Approved

August 26, 2010

Daytona Beach, FL – Following several years of development and testing, the FAA has awarded an STC to Power Flow Systems for the tuned exhaust they developed for the Robinson R22 and R22 Alpha, Beta and Mariner helicopters. Developed in partnership with Performance Aviation in New Zealand, the system allows the older R22, with the Lycoming 0-320 to perform like the newer Beta II helicopter equipped with a 0-360 engine.
The high performance “Beta II in a box” exhaust system allows the R22 to cruise up to 8 knots faster at maximum continuous power. It can maintain previous cruise speeds with 2 to 3 inches lower manifold pressure and will burn up to 15 percent less fuel at those settings. The Robinson also extracts a 200 – 300 feet per minute increase in rate of climb.

Complete kits for the R22 include a new exhaust system with ceramic coated tailpipe, new cabin heater shroud (if equipped with cabin heat), new carburetor heat shroud and a replacement manifold pressure gage with Beta II limits on it. Kits also include a 60-day money-back guarantee plus a 2 year/500 hour warranty (whichever comes first). Priced at $7,860, plus shipping, Power Flow will issue a $500 rebate for the exchange of the manifold pressure gage.

For more information, or to see a video showing some of the performance improvements, visit www.pfsr22.com or call 1.386.253.8833.
